Set in the 80's during the Afghan-Soviet war, a young boy(Ali) leaves his life behind in Kabul and takes to the mountains to fight alongside the Mujahideen. He leaves not only his life but his love(Zarmina) as well. Before his departure, he tells her he loves her and that he wants to fight to give her freedom. What he doesnt know is she is pregnant with his child. She gives him her necklace. He leaves with other boys in his neighborhood to a malitia hideout in the mountains. They spend their days hiding and thier nights on the move. The commander of the militia base finds them and teaches them gurrilla warfare. Back home, Zarmina give birth in secret to a boy. She is met with opposition from her family and threats of death from her peers. So she runs away with her child into the night. Ali prepares for his first battle, they must attack a Soviet convoy and destroy the fuel tankers but take the equipment and kill all soilders. Success. But as they celebrate they realize that the Soviets are going to conduct a counter attack in retaliation to kill the rebels and take the base. Zarmina finds refuge in a village outside of Kabul by saying her husband was killed and she was left with his child. But Soviets consider the village a threat and launch an attack by air and by ground early in the morning. They kill everything in sight, but they corner Zarmina as she trys to run away, they take her baby and toss him aside. throw her on the ground and she struggles so they knock her out and rape her. she wakes up later to look around and desperatly search for her baby. she finds a pile of burning bodies with her child on the top. The rest is up to you.
