A world war one epic.
Epic World War One drama charting the notorious Battle of Passchendaele which took place from July to November 1917 in Belgium. The story follows a 19 year old English soldier Fred Downes and his regiment during the horrendous battle where hundreds of thousands died in futile trench warfare. The film explores themes of life and death, life and loss, hope and despair as Fred and his comrades try desperately to make sense of the madness all around them. I envision Aaron Johnson in the role of Fred.
