This is an idea that i have had for a while and I think that the American people would like to see a film based and Usama Bin Laden and the factual events that lead to the death of one of the most notorious terroists in the world. Now that we have found and killed him, i think now would be a good time to start producing a movie on the rise and fall of Bin Laden. We have produced many movies that were about 9/11 and the lives lost, as well as the men and women that were very heroic as America came together in a time of need. Obiviously before a this kind of movie could be produced we would have to get as many facts as we could to tell it as accurate as possible. It should be based on the history of Obama and the intel recieved. Should include the many months that the CIA had been watching the compound and also the relationship that the US and Pakistan had durring this operation. Then the movie should end with the death of him and what it took for covert operations to make the plan happen. As the credits roll at the end it could show cips of Americans all around the country celebrating in Joy. This movie should include the start of the war after 9/11 as well as some of the highlights of attacking key terroists and what it took to get the intel needed to capture of Bin Ladin dead or alive. I think a movie based on this will touch the lives of many. This is a historical event because of the thousands of men, woman, and children that was killed because of Bin Laden. Not to mention the 3000 innocent people we lost on 9/11. This story should be told through the facts that happened. We could turn it into a story and then produce a movie. Honestly i have had the idea for a while but without Bin Ladens capture it was immpossible, but now we can put this to rest by producing a movie of the events that happened allt he way to his capture/death. Ive served in the military for over 8 years and i have all respect for our country and what it stands for. Even though terror would never end, Bin Ladens death i believe will cripple the Taliban indefinately. I apologize for the punctuation and any misspelling, but i wanted to get this idea out there before any one else. Im going to write it all down on paper to try and get a better grip of a story, but it would be a story based on nothing but facts. I really hope this idea takes hold and i hope alot of people would agree
It would take pages to compile all of the specific events, but I will throw some paragraphs together.
In 2005-06 I was deployed as an individual augmentee to support a Combat Engineer Battalion of the Puerto Rico National Guard. The time I spent training, deploying, serving in Baghdad, Iraq for 13 months during the surge, and returning home with them encompasses some of the most inspiring and passionate moments I have ever been a part of.
I was the first non Puerto Rico native Soldier to arrive @ Fort. McCoy, WI for pre-deployment training, quickly gaining the trust and admiration of the entire 600 plus Soldier Battalion. I moved through three companies before I eventually ended up meeting three Soldiers in a line for Anthrax shots that I remembered from Basic Training. I then asked and was placed into B Company that very next day. I had and continued to be great friends with these three.
Throughout the pre-deployment training, the PR NG Soldiers ran into hurdles everywhere they turned. About 15% perfect of the Battalion did not speak enough English to communicate and about 50% had almost no idea of how the United States Army was composed and it's mission All they knew was travelling to other parts of their island or the Dominican Republic for training; invloving no outside entities.
Throughout the training, the acting Platoon Leader of the Platoon I was in could not communicate over the radio or make decisions under pressure well enough to act out his role. On one mission, happened to be his driver and took over the radio, guiding the patrol through the rest of the day. Once the trainers noticed I had stepped up, they told me to keep leading, since I had gained the trust of the men in the platoon. This was very unorthodox, since a Platoon Leader is a Lieutenant Position. I was not only not an officer, but was a Specialist, only and E-4; 10-11 ranks below a Lieutenant.
One day I sat and listened to one of the lower enlisted Puerto Rican Soldiers and watched him cry about how his country didn't allow him to speak his native language when wearing the same uniform and fighting for the country as a while. The Spanish/English dilemma had become such a significant problem that I researched the Army Regulation on second languages and found that in many circumstances, the PR Soldiers could speak Spanish while on duty. I then cut a piece of paper with the regulation typed on it for each Soldier in the battalion (0ver 600), so that they could place it in their pocket when confronted about speaking Spanish. This was one of the more fulfilling moments in my life and proud for many of the PR NG Soldiers. This was the point where I really one over their hearts.
Once the unit deployed to Iraq, I was given back my old position and the Lt. was given back his. During the hand off with the outgoing unit, I was placed back into the Platoon Leader position by them, since they had to sign off on our ability to conduct the mission they were handing us. Being Route Clearance, one of the, if not THE most dangerous mission in Iraq at that time and still both there and in Afghanistan, they wanted to make sure we were one cohesive unit that would stick together and listen to who was apointed above them.
I continued to lead the platoon for almost five months as an E-4, as we dealt with dozens and dozens of bomb explosions, firefights, injured Soldiers, medical evacuations, and yet still more struggles with the language and culture border.
The PR NG Engineer Battalion gaining the trust and praise of all of the Continental US Soldiers in and around us was a very inspiring thing to see over the 13 months in Baghdad. By saving countless other units from ambushes, IED strikes, and taking every mission handed down and conducting it with great professionalism, the 130th EN BN won over not only the hearts and minds of the people of Iraq, but of the Soldiers of the United States Military stationed with them.
There were multiple specific incidents (many of which I was directly involved in) that would make great combat action scenes; many also with multiple valorous awards (i.e. Silver Star). Multiple Soldiers were killed fighting for something that at first was a right they had to fight for to even have.
The unit then redeployed back to Puerto Rico with praise as the most decorated unit from Puerto Rico to ever engage in combat, earning the U.S. Army's Unit Commendation Medal.
I then, having never been to Puerto Rico, took a week long trip going to see all of the, "brothers," I had grueled with there before I headed to Afghanistan for my next deployment, getting the tattoo on my left forearm, "Boricua Honorario (Honorary Puerto Rican)."
Many more specifics can be added, but this is a somewhat general description.
