Set around the 1954 World Cup in Switzerland. having not lost a game in nearly six years Hungary's Magical Magyars arrive at the 1954 World Cup as red hot favorites. By comparison the German National team, arrive as rank outsiders, vilified in the aftermath of World War 2. As the German people rebuild their shattered country and try to come to terms with the horrors of the Nazi era, 11 men and one inspirational coach, Sepp Herberger, carry on their backs the hopes and dreams of a nation.
