A group of 5 late-teenage Chicago boys wants to rise up quickly in the street gang they are a part of. To do so, they plan to rob a house party being held by a prominent member of a rival gang. When they arrive, masked and armed, they take hostages and demand they hand over any money, or jewelry that they have on them. Because they were caught off guard, the group of around 10 gangsters at the house party hand over what they have, with the promise that they will find out who they are, find them, and make them suffer for what they did. One of the teenagers then panics when the movie the gangsters were watching cuts to a loud gun fight. He starts shooting at the rival gangsters and hits a few of them. In the ensuing gunfight, three of the teenagers get shot. One survives and runs to the car where the driver is waiting. They are able to get away, but they know they must go into hiding. They flee to the north woods of Wisconsin to lay low until they can come up with a solution to the problem. Their anxiety increases when one of the boys checks his email, and realizes he has been sent a video of the rival gang torturing one of their group who had survived the initial gunfire. The gang makes the statement “We know who you are. It is only a matter of time before you will suffer as much as your friend here.” After packing to move to a different location, they are jumped by four men and thrown in the back of an SUV. They are going to meet the leader of the gang they had just disrespected.
