There are these to kids (ages 14 and 7) their mom died last year and their step dad always beats them,slaps them,throws them on the ground ect. and one night the older brother walks in on the step dad beating the little brother and the big brother yells at the step dad and the two brothers get sent to bed, and while they are in their the big brother tells the little brother to get his shoes on so he does, and the big brother gets and wind breaker out of the closet, then the big brother opens the window and lowers himself arms length because its a ten foot drop, then he lets go, the little brother is afraid to jump, but the big brother convinces him that he will catch him so he jumps and the big brother catches him.....now they are homeless and they have to survive the cold nights, they have to steel food to eat, they sleep near a creek under a tarp they stole from someones house, on cold nights the big brother takes his wind breaker off and wrapes it around his little brother and cuddles up to him to keep him warm, to bathe they strip then they get in the creek and the brother uses stolen soap to bathe his brother then himself,to wash their clothes they strip then they dip their clothes in the creek and to dry them they hang them up on a homemade clothes line they use fishing line they found down by the creek with fishing hooks that they stole on it they also go into town and beg for money sometimes they get a little sometimes they get none, their is this old lady near by and every day she bakes a pie and sits in her window they steel it (or so they thing but she puts it their to give them food) one day toward the end of the movie she goes out side and their they are takeing her pie and she tells them come in and get some real food they were afraid to go in but they go in any way and at the end they end up staying with her
