A troubled teenage girl's dream is just to sing but life takes a crash course turn. Her younger sister at the age of 6, is in and out of the hospital with cancer, and the likeliness of her survivial is cut to a minimum. When her father finds out about the wife's cheating scandal they go through divorce. With all the family attention else where, no one is there to listen to her when she has something to say about some exciting news of performing a solo at her high school and that there would be talent scouts there. A new boy comes to school fresh in town. He catches the girls intrest right away. He even joins the schools play something very unlikely of a jock type kid, just to spend more time with her. They start to fall for one another and eventually he is the only when she can turn to when her younger sister dies of cancer right in her arms one night while reading to her at the hospital. The teenage girl becomes completely depressed and more than ever she dedicates herself to singing, because she knew how much her younger sister loved to listen to her when she didnt feel well as the called it the Singing Cure. Meanwhile the new boy in town keeps dating her helping her through all these sititions no matter what. The teenage girls mother, keeps on dating all these men way to young for her age, and finally moves out and lives with her dad, unable to stay so unstable with her mom. Eventually it comes time to the schools performance with the girl and boy with the lead roles, and the teenage girls solo part. Her parents are there, and they become sorrowfull as to not take any notice to their oldest daughters abilities to act and sing. The talent scout reaches out to her and offers her a job as a singer, actress. And the talent scout just so happens to be the mother of her very loved boyfriend...
