A 56 year-old Cambodian Lady named Horn Sao tells a story based on when her life as a young girl. As she grows up, she finds way to escape the Khmer Rouge to safety. As a young girl, she went through many hardships that people don't have to go through now a days. She sold food day and night to raise money for her siblings of 7. At the end of the day, she would be very weak to do anything else. She would always help the elders cook and clean everyday and early in the morning, she goes in the farm to harvest rice in the fields. At the age of 22, she gets married to Chheouth Moth right before the Khmer Rouge. As the Khmer Rouge starts to invade Cambodia, they ran away to Thailand. She fled with a baby in her hand through dangerous paths. When she reached Thailand, she stayed in refugee camps and life in the camps were as hard as the life in Cambodia. She worked in the farms and had meager servings of rice porridge. Gun shots and bombs were heard everyday of the killings of people. Then one day, she decided to run away. To hope, To freedom. MORE TO COME! ---Based on a true story scene 1: Her mother arrives in Long Beach, California and goes to an apartment that his brother have gotten. They settle down and start to remember all the things she has been through. She has flash backs of shootings, dead bodies, running, and working. Then the next scene goes through the past. Scene 2: she is working in the rice fields (srai) and she looks up to the sun. She's sweating and looking at how beautiful cambodia is. She is done with work and she heads home where she see's her mom and siblings.
