Having a strong interest in learning about U.S. Presidents, I have found that the more obscure presidents are more interesting and that their lives could be made into good movies. If successful, people would become more educated about history from watching these movies. I could do the research for the information on the life of the president that the producers would need to make into a script. That is the general idea, but I think we are looking for one example of a movie on a specific president. I will start by suggesting a movie about James Buchanan who is one of my favorites to study about other presidents. We will see if this one flies and if so I will give my ideas about. My suggested title is “Sage of Weatland” which was his nickname. Buchannan was the only president to never marry. The movie would focus on how his broken engagement led him to vow never to marry and commit his life to politics. The movie would get into his career in politics, including his runs in Congress and the Senate, his diplomatic missions to Russia and Great Britain, his tenure as Secretary of State and his two unsuccessful presidential runs before he was finally elected. Then he turns out to be one of the worst presidents ever, as he lacks the leadership to prevent the Civil War. Toward the end, he hands the presidency over to Lincoln. It ends with word information on the screen talking about how he lives out the rest of his life and when he dies and also the fates of some of the major people in his career, such as Lewis Cass and Stephen Douglass.
