This movie is about a man named Evan Grant who is a doctor living in the suburbs. He had a daughter, Jessica, who is a 18 year old high school senior and a son who is 10 in the 5th grade. His daughter's boyfriend, Jacob is known as a nice guy. And when one of Jessica's best-friends lies and says Jacob was trying to hook up with her, Jessica breaks up with Jacob, leaving him heart broken.
Meanwhile, Evan Grant is at the hospital examining a patient. He notices Bruises on her and suspects domestic abuse, (not knowing she is a boxer), but he stays silent. He lets her know that she must have heart surgery done, after she complained about chest pain.
A couple weeks later he performs the surgery and fails. The woman's husband is infuriated. he blames Evan Grant for it all, and threatens him by saying : "You will soon know how it feels to lose what you love."
(That Day) Evan gets into an argument with his daughter, who wants to go to a party to meet with her ex-boyfriend to talk to him in person and work things over. Evan does not allow her to go. Jacob goes to the party and waits all night for her to come, but she never does. He couldn't even call her b/c Evan took Jessica's phone after she says: "I fucking hate you". He tells her she has only brought him pain and regret to make her feel bad.
After Evan falls asleep, Jessica sneaks into her dads office and texts Jacob to come to her house in the morning and talk.
The next morning he is a work feeling horrible about what he said to his daughter. He goes home in hopes that he can make up with his daughter, and spend more time with his son. He walks into his home and finds his daughter and his son dead. He immediately remembers the man that threatened him at the hospital...
He ultimately kills the mans son for revenge, and while he is going through his daughter's phone that he realizes is still in his office, he notices the text that she sent Jacob. He puts the pieces together, the man at the hospital didn't murder his daughter and son, it was Jacob. As soon as he realizes that it wasn't the man at the hospital, the man walks into his house after finding out that his son is dead and shoots and kills him.
