Murray's Pub is a small bar in Pawtucket, RI. it's a melting pot of people, with a few characters. Every weekend is Karaoke night, where egos clash, and tempers flare as a weird blend of music blares into the night. As one of the regulars (who has Down syndrome) finishes butchering a Bruce Springsteen song, the DJ announces a Karaoke competition, with a grand prize of one thousand dollars, Which the bar owner is putting up in a desperate attempt to raise revenue. A few cold stares go throughout the small bar, Dukey, a would be rock singer down on his luck, thinks to himself, that he might stand a chance at winning although his taste of music was a bit hardcore for most of the crowd. He talks to the DJ who calls himself Dr. Music for advice, and he says " Dukey, you're a good singer, you just gotta broaden your horizons. These people don't wanna hear you scream your head off like a wounded banshee. Mix it up a bit, remember you gotta lot of older folks in here. If you want to win that competition, You've got a lotta people to impress, not to mention the people you've already pissed off with your screaming." As Dr. Music said that, Dukey's ambitions dropped a bit. He remembered screaming to "Down with the sickness" with his face and microphone buried in some old lady's face, while screaming "How's it feel mommy, get ready to DIEEEEEE ! ! !" The next day, he begins training for the tournament. which is a month away. He begins a journey into music. Learning songs that he thought would kill, all different genres of music. He goes to different bars which had Karaoke, In an attempt to examine his competition. Seeing that the competition mostly sticks to one type of music, he becomes more versatile. In doing that he makes enemies. (that old nut and shell) So the competition night comes, and it's an elimination tournament.(this movie could introduce some new talent) But the tournament reaches the semi finals, And Dukey gets trapped in the trunk of the car of one of the eliminated singers, who happens to be friend with the last contender, Who conducted the plan. Well at the last moment, he escapes the trunk and gets to the door when the bar's about to give up and announce the winner. Dukey slams through the door, picks up the microphone, and rocks the house, and wins the competition. the movie end with the people who abducted Dukey come out to find their car's windshields all shattered. Chris is a quiet, easy going, marijuana enthusiast ; ) who is talked into joining the carnival by T.J. a southern fellow who he met through a friend (female). Growing up in Rhode Island, He never traveled cross country, and was a little nervous, but in his mind he imagined it would be a blast. Once he gets there, it's night time, everybody's hanging out, drinking, smoking, having a good time, Just as he thought.Later that night he laid on his small bunk, in his congested traveling room. Satisfied with his decision to join the carnival he slowly closed his eyes to sleep with the angels. The hour was early when a distant loud banging was heard. The ignorant ruckus was traveling closer, Then a voice was heard, along with the pounding, "Wake the f@#! up" was heard, along with, "Draws". Dreading the command to awaken, his curiosity is sparked from the word "Draw", So he walks out along with other disgruntled carnies. Slowly they form a line to receive 20 dollars, as a daily allowance. Which at the time (and still) didn't seem like a lot. The money was meant for food but it was used for whatever the person's demons required. A few joinies( which was a term for people who decide to join the carnival.) spent their money strictly on their demon. the carnies, were mostly pot heads who figured out how to escape some of their responsibilities. At the same time filling the emptiness this world provides for some. But besides the rigorous work, which they endured every tear down. A few months go by, and one day Chris's friend, Who came along with her boyfriend T.J. decides to pitch a fit and gets herself fired. So T.J. and Becky head back to Rhode Island, Leaving Chris to fend for himself. A few more weeks go by and Chris grows lonely, until one day while at the West Virginia Fair, a young runaway walks up to him asking if the carnival was hiring. With beauty and innocence in her eyes, Okay well it turns into a romantic comedy with alcohol and marijuana (oh boy!!!) They get to know each other, eventually fall in love, Once that happens, they realize that the carnival is a traveling sweatshop where they make you work days straight, With the drive between states as your only break. ANYWAYS, they move back to Rhode island, She leaves to go back home because he's still partying. She calls him pregnant, He leaves Rhode Island, and his old life style to be with her, They live happily ever after. the end.
You could probably guess this is based on a true story. It could use some touches. But who knows, I'm not that big of a romantic comedy fan.
Freelance writer Darryl Gilbert needs a place to stay after his girlfriend kicks him out. He finds an open spot not too far away as he reads in the classifieds. With a typewriter and a briefcase full of clothes he grabs a taxi after making a phone call to the person who placed the ad. When he arrives however, he gets more then he could have ever bargained for. As the owner is a delusional paranoid schizo that's got a few personalities other then Frank, the man who put the ad in the paper. His house is a death trap, booby trapped out the wazoo, as the writer gets trapped inside with the wacko, he just tries to survive until daylight when the alarm unlocks everything.
god and the devil come up with a wager who can rule the world, two men have just died prematurely in separate accidents one a good working class guy the other a hard nosed rich businessman,the working class man goes to heaven whilst the businessman goes to hell,both are desperate to be alive so god bets the devil that he will reincarnate his man as a boxer modelled on mohammed ali, if the devil reincarnates his man as a boxer based on mike tyson, and whoever wins gets the universe no questions,then both men will get their old lives back;the men will think the same but look totally different .then we will find out who really would of been the champ tyson or ali.
