Present since the dawn of time, the demons representing the seven deadly sins--Wrath, Greed, Lust, Envy, Pride, Gluttony and Sloth--have tempted mankind into succumbing to their ways and claimed their souls to increase their power. This is not so, however, for Kenneth Young. Kenneth has lived all 28 years of his life honestly and goodly--and he's the only human alive who has never committed a deadly sin in his life.
That makes his soul in particular a very powerful, very valuable prize. Now the seven demons are out to tempt him, competing for their chance to claim his soul one by one. Now, with the help of his guardian angel Frank, Kenneth must get used becoming to a demon slayer, resist their various temptations, and protect Sawyer, his co-worker at the Nugget Hut, as well as the girl of his unrequited love.
The Seven Deadly Sins and Kenneth is about a guy who's lived his life honestly and justly. Raised by obsessively virtuous parents, they taught him that the worst possible thing that can happen to you is to commit one of the seven deadly sins--Sloth, Gluttony, Pride, Envy, Lust, Greed, and Wrath. So Kenneth has not once ever committed one in his whole life. While Kenneth has grown into a polite, positive man, the people around him shun him for being so nice and good all the time, claiming him to be goofy and a goody two-shoes. He lives by himself in the city of Trials, NY, where he also works at the local Nugget Hut, with the object of his innocent affections, Sawyer Stone. Sawyer, having rejected Kenneth for her old flame, Roy Smith, has no idea just how much Kenneth cares for her. After living this way all his life, Kenneth gets an unwelcome wake-up call; his guardian angel, Frank, pays him a visit to inform him that the demons representing the seven deadly sins--Scox, Belgor, Cordelia, Furfur, Lilith, Asmodeus, and Bael--are wanting to steal his soul, on account of how pure it is, and they're planning on starting soon. Kenneth obviously has trouble coming to grips with this, until he unexpectedly finds Scox, the demon of Sloth, chilling out in his apartment. Scox tempts Kenneth into just hanging out in the apartment and not going to work or doing anything, even go so far as to bar the door shut, locking him in. When Kenneth repeatedly refuses, Scox slathers his skin with his own skin secretion, which, upon absorption through the skin, causes hallucinations and slow body movement. Kenneth hallucinates something much like the dream sequences in the movie Brazil, where he is a heroic winged knight rescuing a princess-garbed Sawyer from a hideous demonic Roy. The hallucination wears off, but Kenneth's slow body movements don't, and it takes him agonizingly forever to finally escape his imprisonment by leaping out the window. Frank is there to save him, of course, but he can't hold on to him long due to his chubby build, and they both crash to the ground, thankfully unscathed. Although Scox arrives and transforms into his true form--a giant, ugly, warty toad--he is easy to deal with, due to his nonchalant nature; Kenneth bribes him with the entire supply of Nummy Nuggets from the Nugget Hut, and Scox obliges and leaves. Unfortunately, Kenneth gets written up for being late and giving away the Nugget Hut's entire nugget supply. Kenneth goes home tired and depressed, but he cheers himself up by thinking of his odd hallucination and goes to sleep. The next day, Kenneth arrives at work to discover that the Nugget Hut chain has been bought by the EAT Corporation, headed by Langstrom Embonpoint, a disgustingly obese bald man who is always seen eating. (More on the way!)
Protagonists:
Kenneth Young: Kenneth is 28, tall and a bit lanky, with brown hair and brown eyes. He works at the Nugget Hut, a fast-food chain restaurant that specializes at chicken in nugget form. He has a positive, timid, and polite disposition, but often he gets called a "goody-two-shoes" and his secret crush, Sawyer, thinks he's a bit bland because of it. After having to destroy demons, Kenneth transforms into a strong-willed, brave hero.
Frank the Guardian Angel: Frank has been Kenneth's guardian angel since he was born, and is several centuries old. He appears as a sarcastic, slightly chubby man with perpetual five o'clock shadow. He has the ability to fly via his angel wings (though his slight bulk makes it hard to stay aloft) and he has the ability to control light. Kenneth hates Frank at first; he blames him for ruining his happy, oblivious existence. But he eventually becomes Kenneth's best friend.
Sawyer Stone: Kenneth's co-worker at the Nugget Hut. She's a bit eccentric, but she has a very out-going personality, which contrasts with Kenneth's shy disposition. She at first believes that Kenneth is much too bland and uninteresting, rejecting him when he gets up the courage to ask her out, and dating Roy Smith, an old boyfriend from high school who is now a high-class lawyer. Sawyer often becomes the target of many demonic plans, and she begins to see how much Kenneth cares for her.
Antagonists:
Wrath (Bael): King of the Sins Demons. He has a taste for human flesh and breathes fire. He is able to influence people with his Wrath-Fire, a demonic flame that envelops people's hearts and minds, turning them into angry destructive monsters. His demon form is rather formidable--a gargantuan, fire-breathing gargoyle--but his human form is a deranged hobo, nothing fancy. He's the most powerful enemy Kenneth will have to face.
Greed (Asmodeus): Second in command to Wrath. His human form is handsome and decadent, dressed to the teeth in an expensive pin-striped suit complete with a platinum stick-pin shaped like a serpent. He carries a gold watch and chain that he uses to hypnotize people, and wads and wads of hundred dollar bills that enchant anyone who touches them into becoming his slave. He usually doesn't have to resort to his demonic powers, often only relying on manipulation via his silver tongue. His demon form is that of a gigantic serpent, which is probably why he likes eating mice and other rodents while in his human form, swallowing them whole, much to the horror on on-lookers.
Lust (Lilith): Third most powerful demon. Being a succubus, she preys on the souls of men, which are her only sustenance. The human form she usually prefers is of a black-haired woman with violet eyes, but she can change her form at will to accommodate to the desires of her prey. She normally has two human bodyguards around her at all times, whom she has brainwashed into doing her bidding. Her powers of seduction are almost irresistible, and she also possesses amazing agility and strength. In her demon form she still retains her beauty, but she has horns and bat-wings.
Envy (Furfur): Fourth demon down the line of command. He appears as a weedy, maladjusted teenager in human form. He can make himself invisible, and because of this he specializes in causing mischief and facilitating mistrust and dissension among easily-fooled humans. He prefers avoiding sunlight, eating carrion and drinking lots of water, because his demon form is a giant, sentient fungus-like beast.
Pride (Cordelia): Fifth in command. Her human form is a beautiful blonde woman with bright blue eyes. She carries a mirror at all times, to preen in as well as use for her special power: she can hide in, steal souls through, and teleport through any mirrored surface. She has a very cheery and nice personality while around humans, complimenting them ceaselessly, usually about their looks, to better influence their pride, but she's actually nasty and self-centered. She has a fondness for sweet food, especially honey. Her demon form is wasp-like, with insectile wings and a nasty poisonous stinger.
Gluttony (Belgor): Sixth in line. His human form is of an obese, bald man, and usually he is a CEO of a corporation. He eats everything and anything, and even absorbs and consumes things through his skin. He can produce a noxious odor which is horrifying to smell, but it gives anyone within smelling radius an insatiable appetite. He frequently talks with his mouth full, since he is never seen not eating. His demon form is of a disgusting, amorphous amoeba-like creature that consumes everything in its wake.
Sloth (Scox): Last in line and least powerful of all the demons. He prefers to take the form of a pot-head slacker, and enjoys playing video games and eating junk food. Often he forgets his objective and just slacks off and has a good time. He secretes a psychotropic substance from his skin that causes people to hallucinate, and also causes their body to move much slower than usual without them noticing. His demon form is that of a large toad, but he rarely fights, as he wants to avoid the hassle. He has an abnormally long tongue that he uses to slurp up food that is out of reach.
Roy Smith: Sawyer's old boyfriend from high school as well as her current boyfriend. He is one of the top lawyers of his firm, Rosenberg Bros. and Sons. He is really only a colossal douchebag to start out with, especially to Kenneth, until Asmodeus exacts his plans for Kenneth's soul and manipulates Roy into becoming his lackey, promising him vast amounts of wealth and power.
