This story takes place in the early 1600s when a young girl is brought with her father who is part of the English Explorers. The young girl is the daughter of the famous English explorer John Smith. When the group first comes across the land they set out to explore. This story is focused on young Emily. A sixteen year old girl who first stumbles upon a young seventeen year old Indian boy Suka. He doesn't know English, doesn't know anything about the real world of English people. Emily befriends him and starts to teach him English. Nobody knows about her secret, not even her father. She keeps it to herself, like she does with everything. After about a month and a half he learns and in return he will teach her how to be an indian. How to: fight, eat, play, and dance. Emily enjoys it. She learns how to ride a horse, fight with sticks, and learns the legends and dances. About a month later the explorers pass through the land and find the indians doing a peace treaty. Once something gets stolen the indians and explorers commit war on one another. A huge battle happens and Emily lost. She doesn't know what side she belongs to anymore. Once she decides she dresses as an indian and fights along with them using spears and sticks. At the end of this story John Smith learns that his daughter wants to stay. He truly knows where she lies and she stays with the indians.
