Gary Jenkins is an over the top adventurous father who loves spending time with his wife and two children. After realising his two teenagers (Ben) and (Sara) have grown out of his childish ways, he takes time out from his busy work schedule (inventor) and organises a family trip to the Jungle to try to bring his family closer together.
After Ben and Sara sneak out to try to have some quiet time from their parents they find themselves lost and have to spend the night all alone in a jungle. Whilst trying to get some sleep Ben hears an unusual noise not too far away and decides to follow it.
Peaking through the braches they see what looks like to be a Ape (wearing a red tie with the initials DK on it) crying, After trying to get the attention of the ape Sara finally gets up the courage to walk over to it and asks what’s wrong, after a lot of questions from Sara, Ben suggests they should leave and reminds Sara that animals can’t talk, as they are walking away the ape says in a deepish voice Donkey Kong,(Ben and Sara look at each other in amazement) Ben (in a shaky voice) says did u say something, Donkey Kong.. My name is Donkey Kong, but you can call me DK for short.
After coming to grips with what they have just heard Sara asks DK why he is crying and if there is anything they can do to help, DK explains to them that he was out collecting supplies for his father’s (Cranky's) latest invention only to return to his village to find it had been destroyed and all his family (Diddy Kong, Lanky Kong, Chunky Kong, Tiny Kong, Funky Kong, Cranky Kong ect.) had been captured by their most powerful enemy, poaches (King K Rool and co) and have be placed in zoos and circus's
Ben and Sara find their way back to their campsite with the help of DK and explain to their parents the situation, Susan (The mother of Ben and Sara loves all animals and feels sorry for DK) talks Gary (inventor, very smart with good ideas) into helping DK out.
DK begins to tell them about his family and any ways in which the Jenkins might be able to help. He mentions his father’s warehouse which located not far from their campsite. Ben and Sara insist that they all go now to the warehouse to find things that may help them.
Once arrived and inside Gary is amazed at what he sees and soon realises he’s in no ordinary warehouse but that of an inventors. Gary tells DK that they can use a lot of this equipment such as tracking devices, Bananarang (boomerang in the shape of a Banana), a magic watch, descizers and DKs favourite coconut gun to help save his family. (Ben and Sara are over the moon about this)
The next day they head into the city zoo in search of DKs missing family, the family split up (Gary and Ben 1 group, Susan and Sara the other group, DK goes by himself descized as a Genitor). A day of fun filled adventure with many twists and turns not only saving DKs family but Gary uniting his own.
At the end of the film play The Donkey Kong wrap (off Nintendo 64 game) with everyone dancing and clapping including the Jenkins family.
