I've seen the live action dragonball movie and found it a little dorky for my taste. Granted it's based on a kids cartoon, for me personally i like how hollywood has taken super heroes and put them in more reallistic settings and gone away from the really cartoon-y, dorky scripts.
Now my idea probably wont fly with the die hard dragonball fans but this is just a modern interpretation. My story starts with the theory that there was a saiyan race that lived on earth thousands of years ago. They were the ones responsible for building the giant structures made stone(pyramids,stonehenge,etc)but has humantiy evolved we developed more intelliect, less braun. Until a child is born in the modern age who showed above average speed, strength, stamina. After being studied doctors concluded that the boy is just gifted and will probably become a great athlete. So as the boy grows up his body continues to improve, but his intelligence is still that of a typical boy. His energy is through the roof, always doing something and involved in all kinds of activities. He sets records in almost every school sport. He recieves all kinds of honors throughout high school. He begins to develop a little ego, cockiness. His body begins to change irratically, like he cant control it. breaking things and hurting people. The doctors say his body is in good condition but they refer him to and old chinese doctor who is an expert in tai chi. The boy goes to visit the old master, who right away can sense something special with the boy. The master helps him to relax and center his mind to help control his energy. the master teaches him a little tai chi to help the boy understand his power and be in control. The boy thinks its a little goofy. but the master would set him straight. As time goes on, the boy keeps working with the master and becomes more level headed and respects the power he holds. Now the boy has left college, which everyone expected him to be a superstar in sports, learned his humility through the master and didn't want to take advantage of his powers. He decides to help people who are weak only emotionally. He help people physically, but those with injury or disability. People in the town really admire and respect him for his work. One day he visits with his old master who has retired from teaching. On his way there, he feels a sense of negativity rush through his body. Once he arrives at the masters dojo, the place is trashed and the master is beaten almost to death. there's a mysterious man there, the saiyan now feels this rush of evil energy, when he tries to attack the mystery man, he attacks back just as strong as he is. the mystery man leaves, seeing for himself that there is another saiyan on earth. the young man is left with his dying master, confused, the man helps his master to the hospital and tries to figure out who that was and what happened. The master tells the man that he has great ability and can harness more power than he realizes in order to defeat his opponent. Now that the mystery saiyan knows of this second saiyan, he keeps his presence close, trying to slowly torment him, egg him on. the good saiyan tries to understand who this guy is and where he could have come from. But before he can get to any real answers the mystery saiyan becomes impatient. the two men go to a desolate area to battle, the fight begins going back and forth with intense energy and speed, as the good saiyan gets the upper hand, the dark saiyan reveals the saiyans true power, reveals a tail from his pants, which the good saiyan finds hilarious. frustrated,the saiyan morphs into this giant, fierce, ape like creature with incredible power. the good saiyan is baffled but he knows he has to continue to fight. the monster saiyan takes control of the fight, and starts to lead to a populated city. the good saiyan cant figure on how to defeat the monster. as the saiyan tries to muster up energy he feels is body rush with an extreme aoumnt of adrenaline, and energy. so much that he feels like he is going to loose control. until the energy explode out, and feels more power than he every. now he can get back into the fight as a super saiyan. the fight picks up intensity, back and forth. when the super saiyan realizes that the monster saiyan originates from the tail. as the fight contiues the super saiyn attacks the tail, once he destroys the tail, the monster saiyan returns to human form. the dark saiyan now defeated, accepted the loss and is impressed to see a living saiyan. but warns the super saiyan that there a forces in the universe that will be drawen to his energy and could bring bigger problems to earth. they end on a mutual respect and the dark saiyan understands the errors of his ways and promises to work with the super saiyan.
