It is the year 2080 AD and humanity has consumed all the fossil fuels the earth had to offer. It’s been 5 years since the last drop of oil was extracted and now the world is in turmoil, desperate for energy. No contingency planning was done for this kind of situation.

Alternative energy development programs are still in their early stages as they were started too late. The world economy is in a great recession. Now the world is running on a limited supply of nuclear energy, out of which a great amount is consumed by the military.

The world is divided into the US and Chinese blocks. An intense cold war is raging on between the two for the past 40 years which can turn hot any moment. The USA is still completely democratic while the Communist party (CP) still rules China, but the top echelons of power in both these countries comprises of hawks who want to see only their country dominate the world.

There is complete chaos in the Middle East as the US left the region when it became clear that the region is of no strategic importance; however a large US force is stationed at Israel, one of the few stable countries of the Middle East. There is a civil war going on in Saudi Arabia and the adjoining countries with the US and China supporting opposing factions. In the former Saudi Arabia the factions vying for power are the pro-democracy United Arab Democratic Movement (UADM) and the extremist Islamist and Royalist forces (IRF). The UADM is backed by the US while China supports the other.

In these gloomy conditions, two positive developments take place. In the US a young President gets elected who favors world peace and dialog with China; In China a small scale revolution takes place which brings a democratic leader to power through a power sharing deal with the CP. This new leader also supports peace and dialog and starts confidence building measures with the US.

So the stage is set for peace and stability. The new Chinese leader calls a global summit on “Nuclear energy for peace” in Beijing, where it is expected that a landmark deal will be signed between the US and China requiring the two countries and the other nuclear armed nations to gradually curtail their nuclear arsenals and to direct all their efforts to solve the world energy crises through the peaceful use of nuclear energy.

But the Chinese hawks have other plans. They are determined to sabotage the summit by any means possible. The US President is coming to the summit and on the way makes a stop at Israel. When he flies off from Israel, an electrical malfunction has been programmed to take place on the Air Force One, which is powered by electricity now. According to the plan, the malfunction happens and the pilot is forced to land the plane at Dubai (the UAE being the only stable Arab country and a US ally).

As the repairs are taking place, the Dubai airport is targeted simultaneously by 5 suicide bombers and the president is kidnapped by the IRF terrorists and taken deep into Saudi Arabia. The terrorists contact the US government and demand that the US puts pressure on the UADM to pull out of Saudi Arabia and go back all the way to Israel otherwise they will execute the president in 48 hours, and if they see any US forces entering the country they will execute the president immediately.

The Chinese hawks are behind all this. They have told the IRF that if the UADM leave the country, they will come to the IRF’s aid and arm them with nuclear weapons and so the US won’t attack them; but this is not exactly why they have gotten the president kidnapped, what they really want is that they know that the US cannot allow Saudi Arabia to fall in the hands of the IRF because this will seriously jeopardize the security of Israel and so the US will never heed to the demand of the IRF, which will force the IRF to execute the president after which the US will retaliate with full strength, possibly with nuclear weapons. This will provide the Chinese a pretext to go to war with the US.

In this desperate situation, the US decides to send a covert team to rescue the president. The US has tracked where the president has been kept. The best man for the job is a former member of the US Army Special Forces, who because of disillusionment with his own government is serving as a mercenary in the UADM. He is called up and convinced to take up the mission and form a team. And so, the mission starts. The team is provided with all the latest weapons and gadgets and desert buggies.

Their first encounter with the IRF happens in a small village where they see the IRF oppressing civilians by forcing religion upon them. They liberate the village and move forward and reach the town where the president is kept. They track the compound and plan for the rescue. The US has decided that if the rescue mission fails and the president is executed then it will nuke the place. It is a race against time but the team somehow rescues the president at the last moment and prevents the world from a nuclear disaster. Two of the team members including the leader are killed. The president goes to China and signs the deal which puts the world back on the path of progress.

I know I haven’t developed the action sequences much but the main thing is that I want to see an action movie based on the above setting. Many different Black hawk down style action sequences can be developed in this setting.
